Transit Fare Integration: Lessons for Toronto from Around the World

Every year, IMFG awards two fellowships to graduate students at the University of Toronto who are undertaking doctoral or master’s level work in areas related to municipal finance and governance. Learn more about the research of this year’s fellowship winners.

Cities around the world have explored the implementation of transit fare integration from creating zones, to distance-based travel, to unlimited transfers within a period of time. This presentation explored some key challenges and considerations when it comes to fare integration in Toronto. How can lessons learned from other major cities help us to develop our own transit fare policies?
