Alexander Reisenbichler wins the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Social Sciences

The Centre for European and Eurasian Studies (CEES) is thrilled to congratulate Professor Alexander Reisenbichler on winning the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Social Sciences. On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the UTM Research Excellence Celebration was held at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where Prof. Reisenbichler gave a talk about his research and formally received his award.

Prof. Reisenbichler is Associate Professor and MA Program Director at the University of Toronto’s Department of Political Science, the Research Director of the Joint Initiative in German and European Studies (JIGES), and Affiliated Faculty at CEES. He recently published a new book, Through the Roof: Housing, Capitalism, and the State in American and Germany, which explains the highly divergent trajectories of American and German housing policies throughout the past century.

The UTM Annual Research Prizes are awarded in recognition of research excellence, and winners must demonstrate evidence of important research contributions to their field, an emerging international reputation in their field, and evidence of deep engagement in their scholarly work.

Warmest congratulations, Prof. Reisenbichler, from the CEES community!
