In her lecture, Dr. Mattingly explored how the Holodomor offers a key to understanding the current war in Ukraine, both from a historical perspective and by revealing parallels in the objectives, methods and outcomes. She discussed how further studies of the Holodomor are pertinent to explaining the war and its international implications in an increasingly interconnected world.

Sponsored by Holodomor Research and Education Consortium, Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, University of Alberta. Co-sponsored by Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, Petro Jacyk Program for the Study of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Toronto branch, St. Vladimir Institute, and  the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies.
