As Canada's longest serving, arguably most successful, and certainly most eccentric Prime Minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King is a figure of perennial fascination. In The Enduring Riddle of Mackenzie King, a who's who of historians offer fresh perspectives on neglected aspects of King's life and career. Chaired by distinguished historian Robert Bothwell, the event features short talks by Colin Campbell of Western University ("King in 1926: Byng or the Budget?"); David Gordon of Queen's ("King's Haussmannian Ambitions"); cultural historian Anton Wagner ("King the Closet Aesthete"); and the book's editor, Patrice Dutil of Toronto Metropolitan University ( "King's Key to Success").
