International Institute for Indigenous Peoples' Rights and Policy
The International Institute for Indigenous Peoples' Rights and Policy, presented by a partnership of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto (Canada) and the University of Auckland (New Zealand) together with Columbia University Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR), the University of British Columbia and DoCIP Indigenous Peoples’ Centre for Documentation, Research and Information, is now accepting applications for their 2026 summer program.
Participation in the 19th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) in Geneva, Switzerland will be preceded by a week-long intensive immersion program providing an overview and analysis of the major questions in Indigenous affairs and their emergence. The Institute has an interdisciplinary approach and incorporates lectures and workshops on the most recent and innovative academic research and policy debates on Indigenous Peoples’ issues. It is complemented by discussions with United Nations officials, Indigenous Peoples’ rights leaders and advocates, and other relevant parties.
The Institute is accepting applications from professionals, researchers, practitioners and students who wish to participate in an intensive international program on Indigenous Peoples’ rights and policy. Supportive supplementary funding from the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy may be available to accepted Munk students.
