It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Public Policy (PPG) program at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. Whether you are joining us for the first time or continuing your studies in the program, I am delighted to have you as part of this vibrant and engaged academic community.
The PPG program is designed for students who want to understand how public decisions are made, how institutions function, and how policy shapes social, economic, and political outcomes. We live in a moment defined by profound and interconnected challenges—climate change, inequality, democratic governance, migration, and technological transformation—and these challenges demand thoughtful, evidence-based, and interdisciplinary policy responses.
At PPG, you will be trained to approach policy problems with analytical rigor and intellectual openness. Drawing on economics, political science, and the broader social sciences, the program equips students with strong foundations in policy analysis, quantitative and qualitative methods, and clear, effective communication. Our aim is not only to help you understand policy, but to give you the tools to evaluate it critically and engage with it responsibly.
Just as importantly, PPG is a community. Learning here extends beyond the classroom—through conversations with peers, engagement with faculty, student-led initiatives, and experiential opportunities that connect academic work to real-world policy contexts. Many of the most meaningful insights emerge through collaboration, debate, and shared curiosity.
As Director, I encourage you to approach your time in PPG with openness and ambition. Ask difficult questions, take intellectual risks, and allow yourself the space to experiment and learn—knowing that growth often comes from uncertainty and revision, not perfection. We are here to support you as you shape a pathway that reflects your interests, values, and goals.
