Janice Stein Alumni Leadership Awards Recognize 2025 and 2026 Recipients at MGA Alumni Spring Reunion
At the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy Master of Global Affairs (MGA) Alumni Spring Reunion this past April, the 2025 and 2026 Janice Stein Alumni Leadership Awards were presented to two outstanding alumni whose work reflects global, systems-level leadership and impact.
The Janice Stein Alumni Leadership Awards celebrate alumni who demonstrate innovative leadership and meaningful contributions across public policy, institutions, and communities.
2025 Recipient: Noura Aljizawi
Noura Aljizawi was recognized for her groundbreaking research and advocacy:
Noura’s work at the Citizen Lab has pioneered research on digital transnational repression, documenting the psychological and gendered impacts of state-backed surveillance and harassment. Her research has had significant policy impact internationally and has helped shape conversations across Canada, the U.S., and Europe on protecting vulnerable communities from authoritarian reach. She is also widely recognized for her mentorship and public engagement on digital authoritarianism.
2026 Recipient: Shaquille Morgan
Shaquille Morgan was recognized for his leadership in advancing equity and institutional transformation:
Shaquille’s work at Toronto Community Housing has focused on advancing anti-Black racism strategies within the largest social housing provider in Canada. He has led the development of an Anti-Black Racism Analysis Tool now being adopted across public institutions, alongside work on social procurement and community economic opportunity. His work bridges institutional transformation, public policy, and community impact.
Both recipients reflect the kind of leadership the award is intended to recognize, innovative, systems-level, and globally relevant.
