Students Support 20th Anniversary Gala for Canada2020
On Friday, May 8, 2026, thirty graduating Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Global Affairs (MGA) students from the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy took the opportunity to volunteer at Canada 2020’s 20th Anniversary Gala, an evening with former U.S. president Barack Obama.
Students supported the event through registration and guest services, providing them with a unique opportunity to engage with leaders, partners and supporters connected to Canada2020’s work.
Following their volunteer responsibilities, students were permitted to join the gala event and hear the keynote discussion between Obama and economist Diana Fox Carney, spouse of prime minister Mark Carney. Their conversation reflected on leadership, democracy, and public service, while highlighting the importance of collaboration in addressing today’s global challenges.
Experiences like these give students valuable opportunities to witness important public conversations and connect with leaders and communities beyond the classroom.
Student David Glass remarked on the experience, “It was a perfect way to cap off the degree. I will never forget it.”
