Biography

Elena Goracinova is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Innovation Policy Lab.  She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto and holds an MA in Geography from the University of Toronto and a BA in Economics from Sarah Lawrence College.

Her current research focuses on the politics of innovation in urban transportation systems. As part of this work, she is also a research fellow at the University of Toronto’s Digital Mobilities Lab and collaborates with colleagues at the Ecole Polytechnique Montreal with expertise on the deployment of digital mobility and logistics services in urban areas.

This work builds on her doctoral research advised by Professors David Wolfe, Darius Ornston and Alexander Reisenbichler. Elena’s dissertation focused on the variations in how automotive regions in Canada and Germany reconfigure their industrial and institutional support structures to cope with the advent of connected, autonomous and electric vehicles. Elena has published her work in Canadian Public Policy, Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space, Business and Politics, Geography Compass and contributed to edited book collections.
