Biography

Khilola is a Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, where she studies the role of institutions in shaping the economic and social development pathways of post-Soviet countries in Central Asia. Khilola is also interested in finding more equitable ways to transfer knowledge, technology and capital investments to Central Asia. As part of her Fellowship at the Munk School, Khilola is working with Professor Edward Schatz on developing the Central Asia Initiative and encouraging more scholarly interest in this fascinating and dynamic region.

Khilola is also a member of the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, an organization that partners with the financial services, government and the social sector to find creative ways to tackle economic and social problems.  Prior to joining MaRS, Khilola spent time as Researcher at Harvard Business School and also worked as Manager of Public Policy at Manulife Financial, specializing in political, regulatory and market risk analysis. Khilola serves as Junior Editor for the Global Brief, Canada’s premier foreign affairs magazine.

Khilola holds an MA from Harvard University, an MPP from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and a BA from Trinity College, University of Toronto. She is fluent in English, German, Russian and Uzbek.
