Munk One

“Munk One is a First-Year Foundations program at the University of Toronto that combines interdisciplinary scholarship with hands-on, experiential learning while fostering a close-knit intellectual community within Canada’s largest university.”

Welcome to Munk One

Munk One students are driven, engaged, creative, collaborative, and compassionate. They work together to understand and address some of today’s most pressing and complicated issues. From the climate crisis and inequality to insecurity and education, in Munk One we challenge ourselves to think and act differently and to make positive contributions to our communities and the world.

As a small, selective cohort of 25 first-year students, Munk One offers an intimate seminar experience at the heart of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. Students engage deeply with foundational global debates, build strong analytical and communication skills, and apply their learning through hands-on, experiential projects. Along the way, they connect with distinguished Munk Fellows, alumni mentors, faculty leaders, and a vibrant community committed to public impact.

Munk One is more than a program, it is a launchpad for thoughtful leadership, interdisciplinary curiosity, and the confidence to engage with complex global challenges from day one at the University of Toronto.
