Jean Monnet Chair at the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies
The Centre for European and Eurasian Studies (CEES) at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy is proud to announce that Professor Robert Austin has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme. The three-year project, "Enlarging Europe, Upholding Justice: Advancing the Rule of Law Standards Across EU Applicants and Candidates," will deepen academic and public understanding of the rule of law and transitional justice in the context of EU enlargement by engaging with leading European scholars and practitioners.
CEES is home to the European Affairs undergraduate program and the highly regarded MA in European and Eurasian Studies — both evaluated as Gold Standard — making it one of the strongest centres for the study of Europe in North America. The Jean Monnet Chair builds on this foundation, creating new opportunities for students at every level while raising the profile of EU Studies at the University of Toronto and across Canada.
The Jean Monnet Chair is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.
