Undergraduate students at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy have access to a range of scholarships, awards, and research funding opportunities that support academic excellence and experiential learning across all programs. These include in-course awards, research prizes, internship and fieldwork funding, and program-specific scholarships designed to support student engagement in global affairs and public policy.
Many awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and the quality of student research, while others provide financial assistance for experiential learning opportunities such as internships, study abroad, and independent research projects. In programs such as Peace, Conflict and Justice, students may also apply for competitive research and travel grants that support original field-based work and the dissemination of student scholarship. Together, these opportunities reflect the School’s commitment to enabling students to pursue rigorous academic inquiry and meaningful experiential learning both in Canada and abroad.

The Richard Charles Lee Insights through Asia Challenge
Awards funding for students to participate in faculty-led research projects.
Big Ideas Competition: Exploring Global Taiwan
Provides funding for research projects in Taiwan.
Dr. David Chu Scholarships in Asia-Pacific Studies
Award undergraduate and graduate students with funding to travel to the Asia-Pacific region (East and Southeast Asia) for study and research purposes.
The Daisy Ho Contemporary China Undergraduate Fund
Provides 4 awards annually of up to $5,000 for third year undergraduate students who are undertaking a special research project on contemporary China. The award is used to help defray the project costs associated with the travel and research of student participants.
The Joseph Wong Student Experience Fund
Provides undergraduate students with financial assistance for learning experiences, such as studying an Asian language abroad, undertaking field research or special projects, or participating in an international field school.
Mark Gayn Scholarship for Chinese Studies
Offered to students upon admission and enrolment in a program in the Department of East Asian Studies or Contemporary Asian Studies and who are focusing on the study of China. Eligible students will be contacted based on awards availability.

Centre for European and Eurasian Studies
Békássy-Tassonyi Award in Hungarian Studies
Awarded to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science taking Hungarian related courses in CEES to assist with travel to Hungary to further a program of study, internship, research or exchange. Academic merit will also be considered.
Ferenc Harcsar Memorial Fund
Awarded to the top student in the Hungarian history class.
Dr. Zoltan Mester Scholarship
Established through the generous donations from the family and friends of Zoltan Mester; awarded to students of Hungarian Studies on the basis of need and ability.
Husky Energy Hungarian Student Exchange Program
Established through a generous donation from Husky Energy Inc. to support the travel and tuition costs of undergraduate and/or graduate students in the Hungarian Studies Program wishing to take advantage of exchange and/or study abroad opportunities. Academic merit and financial need will be considered.
Karoly Szel Undergraduate Scholarship in Hungarian Studies
Established by Marcella Szel and supported through donations of friends; awarded to students in the Hungarian Studies Program on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
Rakoczi Prize in Hungarian
Established by the Rakoczi Foundation; awarded to outstanding students in any year, either full-time or part-time, who have achieved an A average and who obtain the highest standing in the Hungarian course(s).
Szechenyi Society Inc. Undergraduate Scholarships in Hungarian Studies
Established through a generous donation from the Széchenyi Society Inc.; awarded to students in the Hungarian Studies Program on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
Maria and George Hanus Scholarship
Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from the Czech Republic to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto. The student must be registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Ladislav and Maria Kroupa Scholarship
Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from the Czech Republic to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto. The student must be registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Martina and Milan Plch Scholarship in Czech Studies
Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from the Czech Republic to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto in the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies.

Centre for the Study of the United States
New Associates Awards
New Associates Awards are valued at up to $6,000. Eligible applicants must: (1) be currently enrolled in the third year of their degree with a Major in American Studies; and (2) have received student loans during the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants are asked to submit: (1) a one-page letter outlining their interests in American Studies; and (2) a current transcript as a PDF. Two awards are available: one award for an Ontario resident, and one award for a non-Ontario resident.
CSUS Undergraduate Writing Award
The CSUS Undergraduate Writing Award is valued at $250. Eligible applicants must: (1) be currently enrolled in the third or fourth year of their degree; and (2) be an American Studies Major or Minor. Applicants are asked to submit an essay related to American Studies. The essay can be a submission to the undergraduate journal or a major paper for a CSUS class. One award is available.
CSUS/Northrop Frye Centre Undergraduate Fellows
CSUS/Northrop Frye Centre Undergraduate Fellows will receive $2,500 for the 2026-2027 academic year. Eligible applicants must: (1) be currently enrolled in the third or fourth year of their degree in any discipline; (2) be enrolled at the University of Toronto in the 2026-2027 academic year, and (3) demonstrate an interest in American culture and society. The undergraduate fellows will be expected to attend seminars at both CSUS and the Frye Centre.
Munk One
The Carey Projects
The Carey Projects is a Munk One initiative that honors Carey Davis by supporting undergraduate student teams who develop practical, local solutions to big global problems. Since 2020, it has funded one student-led project each year after teams pitch proposals to a panel of experts, then work with a mentor on a year-long pilot. The program is meant to turn classroom ideas into real-world impact while reflecting Carey’s belief in concrete action and storytelling.

Peace, Conflict and Justice
The Kiessling Paper Award
The Kiessling Papers are published by the Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice with the generous sponsorship of Greg Kiessling and Pam Isaak. The series provides students with the opportunity to publish and share their research with the scholarly community. The winning submission will be adjudicated by The Kiessling Selection Committee and the awardee will receive $1,500.
Fullerton Scholarship / Fullerton OSOTF Scholarship
Fullerton/Fullerton OSOTF Scholarships are available to assist PCJ students who are completing original research in the field. This will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Note: Fullerton Scholarships are not intended to cover a student's full travel and research budget, so supplemental funding should also be sought from other sources.
William Beattie Scholarship in Peace, Conflict, and Justice
The William Beattie Fund for Undergraduate Research is available to PCJ students to support research travel overseas that is associated with an approved directed-reading course focusing on a topic relevant to peace, conflict and justice.
The Kiessling/Isaac Family Internship Scholarship
The Kiessling/Isaak Family Internship Scholarship is available to assist students with the financial costs associated with participating in an internship. It is awarded to 1-2 full-time undergraduate student(s) based on academic merit and participation in an international or domestic internship placement with government, non-governmental organizations, or the private sector.
The Donald S. Macdonald Intern Scholarship
The Donald S. Macdonald Intern Scholarship is available to assist students with the financial costs associated with participating in an internship. It is awarded to 1-2 undergraduate student(s) based on academic merit and participation in an international or domestic internship placement with government, non-governmental organizations, or the private sector.
Dr. Anatol Rapoport Scholarship in Peace & Conflict Studies
The Dr. Anatol Rapoport Award in Peace & Conflict Studies is available to PCJ students. Preference is given to students working in the areas of Game Theory and Mathematical Psychology.
Louis Savlov Scholarship in PCJ
The Louis Savlov Scholarship in Peace & Conflict Studies recognizes academic performance and involvement in activities related to peace, conflict and justice.
Pearson Entrance Scholarship
The Pearson Entrance Scholarship is available to provide funds to cover tuition expenses for a PCJ student with preference for a student from Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific of Victoria, B.C.
Pearson In-Course Scholarship
The Pearson In-Course Scholarship is to provide funds to support students in the Peace, Conflict and Justice program to pursue an internship, study abroad and/or field research.
Terry Gardner Scholarship
To be awarded to a 3rd year undergraduate student studying peaceful approaches to preventing and resolving conflicts among individuals, and groups and/or finding just solutions to ongoing global and local issues. Recipient's studies MUST be focused on peace studies.
