The Mark Gayn Scholarships for Chinese Studies were established thanks to a gift from the estate of Suzanne Gayn.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit to full-time undergraduate students upon admission and enrollment in the Department of East Asian Studies or Contemporary Asian Studies who are focusing on the study of China.
Award Value
$5,500 upon entry to an EAS or CAS program in Year 2
Renewable for up to 2 additional years (Year 3 and 4) if the student remains registered full-time in an EAS or CAS program and enrolled in/ successfully completes courses related to the study of China and with a minimum annual GPA of 3.0.

Eligible students will be contacted based on awards availability. If contacted by Rebecca Bi (Program Administrator and Communications Officer, Asian Institute), please submit your application by email.
How to Apply
Your application must include:
• A cover letter that includes your student information (student number, email, year of study, EAS program) and outlines your intention to focus on Chinese Studies as part of the degree (1 page)
• Courses you are enrolled in that focus on China (including courses outside EAS or CAS)
We will be accepting applications for 2024-25 in November 2024.
