Tea Circle is a forum for new and emerging perspectives on Burma/Myanmar during its current period of political and economic transition. It was established in 2015 at the University of Oxford, and in 2018 became part of the Asian Institute at the Munk School, University of Toronto. Tea Circle highlights analysis, research, opinions, book reviews, multi-media presentations and other types of submissions from a global audience of contributors, which it publishes on its website

Tea Circle is run by a group of dedicated volunteer editors led by Professor Matthew Walton, and is particularly focused on creating opportunities for contributors from Myanmar. It receives institutional and financial support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)’s Knowledge for Democracy – Myanmar Initiative.

In addition to its publishing activities, Tea Circle also hosts a series of events at the Asian Institute. Explore upcoming and past Tea Circle events below.
