Munk School

Information for Incoming Exchange Students

Munk School students

The MGA and MPP programs welcome a select number of exchange students from partner institutions in the fall semester of each academic year. Space in our exchange program is limited and students from institutions with Munk School agreements will be prioritized. Applicants to our exchange program must meet the minimum requirements to apply to the MGA and MPP, as outlined on the admissions pages of the respected programs, including language requirements.

Preparing for Arrival

Inbound MGA and MPP exchange students should review the information on the Centre for International Experience (CIE) Inbound Exchange website before arriving in Canada. Exchange students should ensure they have completed the necessary steps to arrive in Canada before they start their exchange program as outlined on the Inbound Exchange website.

Course Registration

Incoming MGA and MPP exchange students may enroll in up to four (4) courses (the equivalent of 2.0 FCEs) during their exchange at Munk. Students may choose from a list of electives offered by the MGA and MPP programs. Enrollment in core courses (PPG1****H and GLA1****H) is dependent on space available.  Exchange students may enroll in MGA or MPP courses after the priority enrollment period for current students has passed. Course enrollment for exchange students for fall 2023 will open on August 22, 2023 at 10am EST.

Non-Departmental Courses: Incoming exchange students may also request enrollment in one (0.5 FCEs)  non-departmental course to be included as part of their 4 (2.0 FCEs) course enrollment. An SGS Add/Drop Course Form must be submitted for courses outside of the MGA or MPP programs. Space in non-departmental courses is subject to the approval of the department offering the course and is not guaranteed.

Waitlists: Exchange students may be on a maximum of 1 waitlist. Should they not be admitted off of the waitlist, students should enroll in another course that has space.

While enrolled in MGA or MPP courses, exchanges students are subject to the same School of Graduate Studies sessional dates and policies as other MGA or MPP students.

Incoming Exchange Module on Quercus

MGA and MPP exchange students have access to the MGA Program Resources site and the MPP Program Resources site on Quercus. Students log in using their UTORids. On the Incoming Exchange Students page, exchange students will find information specific to them as exchange students including information on course registration and career services resources.

PDACS Newsletter & Workshops

The Professional Development and Career Services (PDACS) Newsletter is a weekly newsletter sent out to MGA students. While exchange students are included on the distribution list, many activities and events included in the newsletter may be geared towards current MGA and MPP students only. Workshops marked “Open to MGA/MPP students only” are not open to exchange students. Other events such as those listed on the Munk School Events website are open to all exchange students.

During their exchange, exchange students may participate in select professional development workshops and other extracurricular activities unless they are marked “Open to MGA/MPP students only”. Current MGA and MPP students must complete certain PD Workshops as part of course and program requirements. As such, these workshops may only be open to MGA/MPP students.
