Leafia Ye is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In Fall 2023, she joined the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor of Sociology.

Her research agenda centers on urgent challenges that deter the full inclusion of immigrant populations into host societies. Empirically, she hasused a wide range of quantitative methods to analyze administrative and survey datasets. Her work has appeared in Population and Development Review, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences, Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World, and Advances in Medical Sociology

For two consecutive years (2019 & 20), she was awarded the Retirement and Disability Graduate Research Fellowship (funded by the U.S. Social Security Administration) to study immigrants' economic well-being in later life. One of her dissertation chapters on this topic (Forthcoming at Social Forces) received a Best Graduate Student Paper Award from the ASA Section on Aging and the Life Course.
