This event took place in-person in seminar room 208N, North House, Munk School, 1 Devonshire Place, Toronto.
Zoltán Kodály’s most important compositions have their roots not only in the Hungarian folksongs, but also in the music of Palestrina and the great literary works of his homeland. Delivered on the occasion of the centenary of the monumental oratorio Psalmus Hungaricus, this talk presented the chief sources of Kodály’s inspiration and reflected on the significance of his unique creative attitude.
