All are welcome to this lunchtime screening of A Scene of the Sea (dir. Lau Kek Huat, 2014), from the University of Toronto Mississauga's Asian Short Film Collection. Seating is limited so registration is mandatory and so is attendance if you are registering.A catered lunch will be provided.

About the Film:
 
Pia's father promised him a trip to the sea. But he left Thailand for work and has never returned. After 15 years, Pia follows his father to Taiwan in search of a living.
 
About the Commentator:
 
Jixin Jia is currently a PhD student at the Cinema Studies Institute at University of Toronto. Born and raised in Shanghai, China, he completed both his BA and MA degrees in the United States. His research focuses on Sinophone cinema and eco-cinema, especially the link between cinematic form and and diasporic subjectivity.
