ABOUT THE TALK:
Estonian Climate Minister Yoko Alender discussed global trends regarding energy markets and the European Union’s efforts to achieve energy independence. She presented Estonia’s strategy for energy security, including investments in renewables. Minister Alender also discussed the most recent developments in the region, including the highly-suspicious severing of several infrastructure cables under the Baltic Sea and the Baltic states’ disconnecting themselves from Russia’s electricity grid.
 
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Yoko Alender is the Minister of Climate of the Republic of Estonia since July 2024 and has been a MP for the Reform Party since 2019. She holds a Master’s degree in architecture and urban planning from the Estonian Academy of Arts.
