  1. Contact the Undergraduate Program Coordinator to inquire if the course you are interested in can accept auditors. If it can, you may be asked to contact the instructor of the course for their formal permission to audit.
  2. Once the instructor has given permission, we will request that they add you to the course page on Quercus as an “Observer”.
  3. See below for more information on auditing policies.

External Auditors

If you are external to U of T and would like to audit one of our undergraduate courses, please complete the following steps before the beginning of the semester:

  1. Refer to the Faculty of Arts & Science Timetable Builder for the list of current courses and their details.
  2. Contact the Undergraduate Program Coordinator to inquire if the course you are interested in can accept auditors. If it can, you may be asked to contact the instructor of the course for their formal permission to audit.
  3. Upon approval, you will then be asked to complete the “Munk School External Audit Request Form” and return it to the Undergraduate Program Coordinator. Further instructions will follow regarding acquiring a temporary ID in order to access the course page on Quercus (the course’s online portal).
  4. See below for more information on auditing policies.

Auditing Policies (Internal/External)

  • Auditing is subject to availability and the course instructor’s and department’s approval.
  • Auditing a course entitles you to attend lectures only.
  • You may not submit any written work, attend tutorials, participate in online discussions, write term tests or the final exam. Auditors are not evaluated.
  • You will receive permission to access the course page on Quercus as an “Observer” and added manually by the instructor once the approval has been granted.
  • The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy does not issue a certificate of attendance or keep a record of attendance.

Please contact the Undergraduate Program Coordinator should you have any questions.
