Welcome to the new school year!
Dear Munk School Community,
I am pleased to welcome our students, faculty, fellows, and staff to the Munk School as we begin a new school year. To those of you who are joining us for the first time, a very warm greeting to you.
The year ahead promises to be consequential. We are, as Dean Acheson famously said, “Present at the Creation.” We are witnessing the erosion of the liberal international order that has shaped us all, but no one can confidently predict where we’re going. The work of the Munk School in public policy and global affairs is more important than ever in the midst of deep uncertainty about the evolving shape of the international architecture.
The Munk School calendar is already full of interesting guests and outstanding panels that should offer food for thought in a world that is moving at a frenetic pace, creating new dangers and new opportunities. Faculty members who pushed ahead in their research this summer will be sharing the results with us. Stay tuned for notice of all these activities from our office.
We have a busy week of activities for all our new students, and the faculty and I are looking forward to meeting you all. You are joining a lifelong community of Munk School students and graduates who build networks in the classroom and deepen and broaden these networks through work experiences and professional engagement all over the world.
I look forward to seeing you all and getting to know those I don’t already know in the next several weeks.
