Biography

Chiara Marzocchi is an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She joined Newcastle University Business School in February 2021, after previously working at Alliance Manchester Business School.

Her research focuses on innovation and nascent entrepreneurship, particularly the contributions of universities to entrepreneurship and the role of contextual determinants in fostering sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems. She examines nascent entrepreneurship, with a focus on start-ups by students and recent graduates, higher education institutions' organizational mechanisms and incentives for entrepreneurship, and the broader impact of these ventures on the regions where they are established.

Her work explores various channels that facilitate knowledge creation and exchange, including the diversity of entrepreneurial outputs generated by universities, the role of teaching in skills development, and the diffusion and local retention of graduates and graduate ventures.
