Chong Su Kim received his MA and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Victoria in 2011 and 2019, respectively. His research focuses on relational dynamics and interactions of self-making of collectivities and rights claims with democratization and redefinition of democracy in East Asia. He is currently interested in co-constitutive processes of collective identities of precarious groups, their politics, and democratic rights in South Korea. His research also reaches out to topics of urban social movements, corruption and anti-corruption in politics, and civil and labour education in schools. He was the recipient of the 2013 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and the 2019-2020 Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship.
