Main Bio

Nicole Wu is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science. Prior to coming to Toronto, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University. She received her PhD in political science from the University of Michigan.

Wu’s research and teaching interests include international and comparative political economy, public opinion, the politics of technology and labour politics. In her research, she seeks to understand the political consequences of two of the most important changes in the contemporary world economy: technological change and the rise of China.

Wu is passionate about her research in part because “job automation is conceivably imminent in a few occupations. Our society has become more invested in understanding how technological change affects workers and how workers might cope with the change.”

At U of T, she looks forward to continuing her work within the University’s vast array of interdisciplinary centres and research institutes working on technology-related issues.
