Biography
Olha Chaplia is a PhD student at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where she previously earned a master's degree in Philology. She also holds a master's degree in Theology from Ukrainian Catholic University. Her research focuses on Ukrainian literature from the 11th to 18th centuries, with particular interest in early sermons and Baroque metaphysical poetry. Olha’s dissertation examines the poetics and rhetoric of Metropolitan Ilarion's Sermon on Law and Grace.
She participated in the Mentorship Program for Scholars at Risk, co-organized by Dumbarton Oaks (Harvard University) and North of Byzantium, and Connected Central European Worlds, 1500-1700. Additionally, she was a Visiting Graduate Student Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria, British Columbia.
She will be at CEES in January-April 2025 as an International Graduate Visiting Student. Her supervisor at the University of Toronto will be Professor Jaroslav Skira.
